Un selezionato gruppo di allievi dell’Accademia di Verona espone nelle Gallerie d’Arte cittadine

– Gli allievi dell’Accademia di Verona si mettono in mostra e lo fanno da protagonisti, nelle più prestigiose gallerie d’arte della città.
Si chiama First Step, cioè primo passo e si tratta di un’iniziativa inedita con cui l’Accademia Cignaroli di Verona, dal 26 giugno al 3 luglio, offre ad un gruppo di 30 studenti selezionati la possibilità di esporre le loro opere nelle gallerie cittadine che hanno aderito al progetto: Artericambi, Boxart, Byblos Art Gallery, La Giarina, Marco Rossi, Galleria dello Scudo, Studio La Città, Spazio 6, a cui si aggiunge la vetrina all’interno dell´Accademia, nell’aula Jenna. La scelta dell’artista a cui riservare uno spazio è stata operata dalle singole gallerie, che hanno sposato immediatamente l’operazione non per puro spirito di mecenatismo, ma per misurarsi con un’arte ricca di un potenziale non ancora realizzato. I direttori delle gallerie hanno mostrato un atteggiamento di curiosità e disponibilità, non disgiunto da una certa sorpresa per l’elevato livello qualitativo. L’allestimento è stato curato in collaborazione dai docenti dell’Accademia, dai galleristi e dagli studenti stessi. Le opere scelte vanno dalla pittura, al mosaico, alla fotografia, ben rappresentando i vari aspetti della formazione artistica che l’Accademia Cignaroli offre. Quello che First Step offre è il prosieguo della funzione educativa. Come spiega il coordinatore del progetto Luigi Meneghelli, docente di Fenomenologia delle Arti Contemporanee: “Un’aula scolastica, con tutte le sue discipline teorico-pratiche, non può fornire il confronto con gli spazi espositivi, l’esperienza dell’allestimento, né la relazione con quelli che sono i veri soggetti del sistema dell’arte: critici, galleristi, collezionisti. E’ un po’ come fanno gli stilisti che mandano in passerella i loro modelli con gli abiti ancora imbastiti, ma che suggeriscono già gli indizi di una moda a venire. Per le gallerie, che hanno prontamente risposto, è una forma di investimento sul territorio e sul giovane. Magari saranno ancora palesi alcuni retaggi stilistici, alcune approssimazioni tecniche. Ma qui a contare non è il lavoro finito, quanto il lavoro che continua a farsi, ad affinarsi, a far propri i rituali del mondo dell’arte. Non si può sapere se tra questi giovani ci saranno le star di domani – conclude Meneghelli - ma intanto ci viene offerta la prima emozione che sa suscitare l’arte, e cioè quella dell’incontro con il mistero, l’imprevedibilità, la scommessa.”
E chi ha voglia di scommettere sul talento di questi giovani potrà acquistarne le opere, le cui quotazioni sono simboliche e non di mercato.
Originale anche la formula dell’inaugurazione, che sarà un opening itinerante. Sabato 26 giugno, le aperture dei vari spazi si susseguiranno a partire dalle 17.00 fino alle 21.

“Maddalozzo’s research deals with a system of rules codifying images, a system that gives special prominence to accuracy. It is visual archiving, a vision characterized by methods where rationalization and structural translation are elements giving form to creative action. The formal structure, its social meaning, its use, and color are employed in search for an effective and potent communication. Contemporary artistic research will be the protagonist in “Languages and Experimentations. Young artists in a contemporary collection”. About 80
About 80 works – paintings, photographs, sculptures, installations and video – from the AGI Verona Collection, which has always dedicated itself to seeking out new talent, will be exhibited in the Mart’s rooms.
The AGI Verona Collection was founded in 1989 at the behest of five collectors from Verona, who joined together with a shared desire to support contemporary art. Over 500 works have entered the collection so far, made using different artistic languages and techniques, offering varying poetics and provenance, with artists from outside Italy forming the majority. AGI has always focused on buying young and emerging talent; for the most part, the works entered the collection the same year they were made. The young artists and new hopes have represented a continuous challenge, matching a collecting sensitivity that has always sought to capture the new and topical, in order to register the changes and transformations under way in the history of art.
The “Languages and Experimentations” exhibition, curated by Giorgio Verzotti and with a catalogue essay by Hans-Ulrich Obrist, is part of a cycle of exhibitions the Mart is dedicating to the promotion of private collections of particular worth; new or long-standing, they share an important role in the history of Italian collecting. About 20 works will remain on long-term loan to the museum and will form part of the Permanent Collection.
The artists selected for the long-term loan are Mario Airó, Stefano Arienti, Pierre Bismuth, Tom Burr, Maurizio Cattelan, Berlinde De Bruyckere, Roni Horn, Jim Lambie, Jorge Macchi, Eva Marisaldi, Sabrina Mezzaqui, Giovanni Morbin, Gabriel Orozco, Rob Pruitt, Julius Rolf, Andreas Slominski, Grazia Toderi, Luca Vitone, Sislej Xhafa and Chen Zhen.
Through the lens of the AGI Verona collection, the exhibition enables the visitor to focus on the current complex international artistic scene in Europe, America and Asia as regards young emerging talent. Many of these are now gaining an international reputation but were still ‘emerging’ when acquired by the AGI Verona. Among the artists present are Mircea Cantor, Jeremy Deller, Cyprien Gaillard, Carlos Garaicoa, Django Hernandez, Gabriel Kuri, Jonathan Monk, Anri Sala, Simon Starling, Tomas Saraceno, Tino Sehgal; and from Italy: Francesco Vezzoli, Nico Vascellari, Luca Trevisani, Piero Golia, Anna Galtarossa, Lara Favaretto, Gianni Caravaggio, Luca Pozzi, Emanuele Becheri, Alberto Tadiello and Andrea Galvani, Giovanni Morbin, Nida Sinnokrot,Wael Shawky
The works on long-term loan at the Mart will be on show on the second floor, where they may be compared with the Museum’s collections. The exhibition itself will be held in the rooms of the first floor and other spaces, and will present videos, performances and large installations, some of which in contact with the public and city of Rovereto.

The biggest exhibition of MUSAC Collection shown up until today outside the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León will take place between March and May, 2009 at Mücsarnok Kunsthalle in Budapest. Under the title Mi Vida. From Heaven to Hell. Life experiences in art from MUSAC Collection, the show will exhibit a selection of works which stress the relations between art and life from different standpoints. More than forty artists will show their works in aproximately 2.500 square meters.

Dust Jacket is an experimental editorial project, the cover of an open-ended and permeable idea. Curated by Marco Antonini, Temporary Geometries features objects that organize themselves around an invisible structure, taking position in a desperate attempt to overcome the emptiness that surrounds them. Andrea Galvani and Isola e Norzi’s works are made of small tweaks, temporary actions that are bound to fail but still meaningful to claim their power over the erosion of space and time.
With this project, the Italian Institute of Culture, New York, is launching a series of invitational exhibitions aimed at promoting the work of some of the best Italian artists working in the New York Area.
Dust Jacket è innanzitutto un contenitore, un progetto editoriale sperimentale, la cover di un’idea aperta e permeabile.
Temporary Geometries è una delle sue parti mancanti, un appunto di viaggio scritto tra le righe di una pagina strappata da un libro.
Nel progetto, a cura di Marco Antonini, gli oggetti prendono posizione e sembrano organizzarsi attorno ad una struttura invisibile, in un disperato tentativo di rivalsa sul vuoto. I lavori di Andrea Galvani e Isola e Norzi si costituiscono di piccoli spostamenti, azioni temporanee, sforzi destinati a fallire ma in grado di rivendicare un loro potere sull’erosione dello spazio e del tempo.
L’Istituto di Cultura Italiano di New York avvia con questo evento un programma espositivo su invito, finalizzato a promuovere il lavoro dei migliori giovani artisti italiani attivi sul territorio newyorkese.

After being neglected for quite some time, spirituality has risen to the surface in contemporary art. Spirituality based on religious belief has been part of art history since the dawn of time. Art has both advertised and glorified religions, but contemporary art has generally distanced itself from the spiritual realm, focusing its lens on formal and conceptual tenets. Not surprisingly, as often happens in times of secular uncertainties and political and economic turmoil, there is currently a resurgence of interest in spirituality, wherein artists are exploring and re-defining themselves in their work with very
introspective and personal means and approaches. However, from a different perspective, these new spiritual elements can be interpreted in part as a contemplative reaction. Layered with complexity, these explorations include universal issues that, while external, are nonetheless of primal importance to the self.

L’esposizione a cura di Renato Miracco e finanziata dal Ministero degli Esteri, raduna alcuni del principali protagonisti dell’Arte italiana storica e contemporanea selezionati con un attento sguardo internazionale. Le opere provenienti da collezioni di tutto il mondo riuniscono il meglio della produzione di alcune aree della creatività e del design italiano dell’ultimo secolo.

La giuria composta da Andrea Bruciati direttore della Galleria Comunale d’Arte Contemporanea di Monfalcone, Riccardo Caldura docente presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia, Sarah Cosulich Canarutto curatrice del Centro d’Arte Contemporanea di Villa Manin, Elena Carlini architetto, Lorenzo Michelli curatore, Paolo Toffolutti artista e direttore dello SPAC di Buttrio e Sabrina Zannier critica d’arte e curatrice, ha assegnato il primo premio all’opera di Federico Maddalozzo dal titolo-22.837.732 cm3.
